Basic Coding with Scratch (recommended for 10-14 years old)
June 20, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:30 pm
| $130Event Navigation
Scratch was developed at the MIT Media Lab, and used by many educators to introduce kids to coding. Coding imparts reasoning, logic and problem solving skills, which will help in their maths and science.
This class will allow kids to create their very own game. They will develop three game types (space-invaders, brick and ball, catch the fish) from scratch (pun not intended)! The coding process will start from a basic level and iteratively get more advanced. They will be able to customise everything, including the design, mechanics, scoring, and so create a unique game that they can call their own. After the coding, they’ll be able to play and share the game with friends and family.
In the process of creating the game, they’ll be learning x-y coordinates, conditionals, events, sequences and loops. They’ll learn how to animate objects and appreciate the intricacies of good game design.
The class will be conducted by Wallace, who has a degree in Computing from Imperial College London and has been an avid programmer (studyroom.sg website was entirely coded himself).
