Idioms with colour

TGIW! As we head for a super long weekend, let’s learn English with colour.

Here are some idioms that use colours in the description. Can you think of other examples? 🙂

-The rules given were BLACK AND WHITE- you cannot bring your handphone into the class.
-I BLACKED OUT at the sight of blood.
-Tom was the BLACK SHEEP in the family. He was jailed for robbery several times.
-Mary was BORN WITH A SILVER SPOON in her mouth. Her parents can buy her anything without needing her to work.
-James was CAUGHT RED HANDED copying his classmate’s homework.
-Housing prices are low now. It’s a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to buy an apartment.
-I always felt my friends from Company X are happier than me. I guess the GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE.
-Andy was GIVEN THE GREEN LIGHT to renovate the house.
-I was GREEN WITH ENVY when I heard Amy was getting a promotion.
-Sally has a green thumb. Her flowers are all blossoming!
-I have the BLUES every Monday.
-The company is IN THE RED. It will go bankrupt soon.
-I meet Mindy ONCE IN A BLUE MOON to catch up on old days.
-There’s a lot of RED TAPE in the civil service so we have to fill in all these paperwork to get the project approved.
-I SAW RED when he insulted my mother.
-I saw his TRUE COLOURS after the boss left. He stopped working hard and went for long breaks.
