There are 360 more green apples than red apples at a fruit stall. 🍎
After 1/4 of the green apples and 5/6 of the red apples are sold, there are 380 apples left. How many apples are sold in all?
Are you taking a double take on this question? Are you unsure of your answer?
(The answer is 220. Did you get it right?)
During my schooling days, I have friends advising me how to ace the Maths paper.
“Maths is just about repeating the questions again and again.”
Do you agree?
We don’t.
Practice is important. Understanding is more important.
This June holidays, we are rolling out two Maths holiday classes to help you catch up with your peers.
The purpose is not to do and repeat. It is for you to know what you are doing.
Our Maths specialist Sean will be exploring different methods of approaching the questions for P5 and P6 students, find one that’s most apt for the students and guide them in the section students fear the most— problem sums.
For P3-P4 students, we have come up with a model drawing class. Without the use of algebra, Singapore students are blessed with this method which other countries are also emulating. However, some students are still confused by what’s taught in school, perhaps due to the inability to clarify doubts in a large classroom setting. We aim to get students to fully understand this method, which will come in handy for the rest of their primary school years.
