Passion for teaching

Recently, someone asked me what is the key quality I look for when I interview teachers.

Passion

This sounds cliche but it is extremely important in the education industry. If we hire a teacher who just comes in to do the bare minimum, will the student really learn?

Improvement comes with many factors: a good curriculum, someone who knows how to teach, and also someone who can build a rapport with the students.

Not tuition

We avoid calling ourselves a tuition centre because of the negative connotation that comes with it.

Drilling, cramming and top-down learning.

That’s not what we offer.

We teach techniques (ie we teach you to fish, not give you a fish) we encourage questions from students, even if it involves challenging us, we attempt to teach more than what’s in the curriculum such as conducting interesting experiments and discussing world issues. There are times we even counsel. 🙂

If

If you will like to just try our classes to see how they are different, how interesting and how our teachers bond with the students, we do have a two-week trial.
